I've been known to wear a baseball-style cap (with a graphic for the now-defunct <abbr title=\"University of California \u2013 San Diego\">UCSD<\/abbr>  <abbr title=\"Hewlett-Packard\">HP<\/abbr>-<abbr title=\"Programmer Apprentice Laboratory\">PAL<\/abbr>) with it, but the result was questionable.<\/p> <p>While I was out to-day, I was seized by the urge to get a hat.  So I stopped at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.villagehatshop.com\/\">the Village Hat Shop<\/a>.  There I found and purchased a chestnut-colored <a href=\"http:\/\/www.villagehatshop.com\/jaxon_hats_nubuck_leather_safari.html\">Jaxon Nubuck Safari<\/a>.<\/p><p> <\/p><p>(As I was completing purchase, the salesgirl said that \/\u02c8ki\u0259n\/ was a fine Irish name.  I didn't tell her that my middle name is in fact pronounced \/\u02c8k\u028c\u026a\u0259n\/ and that, though there are Irishmen named <q>Kian<\/q>, in my case my name was just an invention based on my father's notions of euphany, and his disregard for how a name pronounced \/\u02c8k\u028c\u026a\u0259n\/ ought best to be spelled.)<\/p> <p>The hat unfortunately isn't packable\/crushable, but should develop some character with time.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"For many years now, I have had a Peterman duster (in the original canvas color, which I'm happy to see has again become available), but really no hat to go with it.
