{"id":2050,"date":"2009-09-03T15:47:25","date_gmt":"2009-09-03T23:47:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.oeconomist.com\/blogs\/daniel\/?p=2050"},"modified":"2009-09-14T16:13:47","modified_gmt":"2009-09-15T00:13:47","slug":"fifth-toss","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.oeconomist.com\/blogs\/daniel\/?p=2050","title":{"rendered":"Fifth Toss"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Last night, I finished the clean-up of a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.latex-project.org\/\"><span style=\"letter-spacing: -1px ;\">L<span style=\"vertical-align: top; font-size: smaller ;\">A<\/span>&Tau;<span style=\"vertical-align: sub;\">&Epsilon;<\/span>&Chi;<\/span><\/a> version of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.praxiologic.com\/economics\/papers\/CoinFlip.pdf\">my paper on incomplete preferences<\/a>.  From remarks by a person more knowledgeable about &Tau;<span style=\"vertical-align: sub;\">&Epsilon;<\/span>&Chi; than I, it seemed that my best option in dealing with the under-sized angle brackets was to just fall back to using only parentheses, square brackets, and braces for taller delimiters.  And most width problems were resolved by expressing formul&aelig; over more lines.  Unfortunately, these changes leave the formul&aelig; harder to read than in the original.<\/p> <p>This after-noon, I completed the submission process to one of <a href=\"?p=2035\">the two specialized journals recommended by the advising editor who rejected it at the previous journal to which I submitted it<\/a>.  The submission process for this latest journal required that I name the other journals to which I'd submitted the paper.  As <em>simultaneous<\/em> submissions are disallowed, basically they were asking for a list of which journals has <em>rejected<\/em> the paper.  I gave it.
