{"id":1813,"date":"2009-06-19T09:51:45","date_gmt":"2009-06-19T17:51:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.oeconomist.com\/blogs\/daniel\/?p=1813"},"modified":"2009-06-19T09:54:26","modified_gmt":"2009-06-19T17:54:26","slug":"bad-argument","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.oeconomist.com\/blogs\/daniel\/?p=1813","title":{"rendered":"Bad Argument"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Very early this morning, as I first fell asleep, I dreamt that <a href=\"http:\/\/mocketymock.com\/\">the Woman of Interest<\/a> and I argued over how to write something, and that a <span style=\"font-style: italic ;\">specious purported rule of grammar<\/span> was unleashed against me.  What was particularly remarkable about this ostensible rule <span style=\"font-style: italic ;\">as such<\/span> was that it had <q>physical<\/q> existence &mdash; it was large, aggressive, dangerous. (It hadn't been <a href=\"http:\/\/mocketymock.com\/\">her<\/a> intention to set such an entity after me; she'd failed to anticipate the consequences of her line of argument.)<\/p><p>I fled from it up a flight of stairs and through a door.  It was able to open the door in its pursuit.  I shot at it &mdash; apparently I have access to firearms in my dreams &mdash; but either I was missing it or it was resistant to bullets.<\/p><p>I awoke with my heart pounding.<\/p><p>So far, nothing like that has ever happened in real life, starting with the fact that <a href=\"http:\/\/mocketymock.com\/\">the Woman of Interest<\/a> has never made a specious claim about grammar in argument against me.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Very early this morning, as I first fell asleep, I dreamt that the Woman of Interest and I argued over how to write something, and that a specious purported rule of grammar was unleashed against me.
